ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh, I love this picture. This is coming from someone who watched this movie every day as a kid for a while, who ordered her little brothers around saying "Spit spot" and and who has dressed up as Mary Poppins in both childhood and adulthood.
Though I'm a Mary Poppins purist (my mother-in-law gave me the broadway soundtrack. I turned it on and could barely listen. I just can't hear the songs from anyone but Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke), your bit about Bert tapdancing on the ceiling has piqued my interest. Can I come with you?
Oh--I am TOTALLY a Mary Poppins purist, too! The Disney version--I'm reading the books, and it just doesn't feel right to me. (Mary Poppins is kind of a jerk!) I do like some of the songs in the Broadway version, but when it comes down to it, no Mary Poppins is the Mary Poppins as Disney's Mary Poppins is. It makes me cry every time I watch it. Yes come!

When I was little, right when VCR's were invented, my baby brother insisted on watching Mary Poppins at least twice a day. I think I still have the whole script memorized...

Very nice picture! I love stories about Marry Poppins and also I love the Disney's movie. In Russia we have own version of film about her and plot of it has some differences from book but it is really nice too. And if somewhere you will find it in English - I recommend it to you for watching!
