A project I've been toying with.
I wanted to try something new w/the sponge & pastel brushes, then slowly erasing to the higlights. I scrapped it mid-paint due to ugliness.
PINK RESURRECTION!!!!Acrylic bristle brush. The hair might be a bit...wormy but overall I like it. One day I will do hair like Kevin Keele! That's the stuff dreams are made out of.
I love the hair in the second one! It reminds of Roman busts where the curls are so deep (Kind of like this: http://cache2.allpostersimages.com/p/LRG/26/2693/81TUD00Z/posters/bust-of-marcus-aurelius-roman-emperor.jpg) Awesome!
ReplyDeleteNice. I especially like the colors on the 2nd picture.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of the 2nd one, it looks beautiful! The finish and the colors are great! I agree... Kevin Keele is one of the greatest hair stylists I've ever seen! P.s. A little tip on your first pic... delete my post if it's too ugly and big... but whenever I do inking line work, I bring it into photoshop. Double click the layer to make it NOT a background layer. Select all the white, delete it (leaving transparency in it's place, and then bring up the hue saturation dialogue. Take the lightness slider all the way down to make all the remaining lines pure black. That way, you don't have the faint ghosty gray lines around the linework. Just a tip, good job.
ReplyDeleteThis is digital, right?
ReplyDeleteEither way... amazing work!
Aaaw thanks guys! #^_^#
ReplyDelete@Matt - That's a great tip! Thank you. I'll try it ^_^
@Logan - Yup, in CorelPainter :)
Heather, you never cease to amaze me. Beautiful, and the concept is so amazingly clever. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteI want that hat.
ReplyDeleteHeather, you are so amazing! I LOVE the second one! I also think the hair you drew is awesome! Way to go!!

ReplyDeleteOne word: gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOoh! Pink incarnation is so luscious. Put some sugar on that!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is marvelous, I love it! Also, thanks for the flattery we should have a hair drawing party some day.
ReplyDeleteP.S. While painting the avatar for my wife I kept thinking "how would Heather Dixon do this?" - I knew if I could make it look enough like something you did she would like it. Thanks for the inspiration.
I can't find your post on Midnight Kiss -- I wanted to show it to my girls. Is it not working or did you take it off?
