"Tangled" shameless fan art

I saw Disney's "Tangled" on Thanksgiving.

I started crying about two minutes in...
...and stopped about a couple of days ago. Though it still makes me tear up. AMAZING movies do that to me :)

I also bought this:
It's a really great Art-of book, and I recommend it for sure! I love these books and going through them I find so many talented artists. People like Claire Keane, Jin Kim, Lorelay Bove, Lauren Airries, Victoria Ying, Shiyoon Kim, along with Lissa Treiman & Scott Watanabe, and a whole bunch others whose blogs I couldn't find. I'm much too shy to comment on any of their blogs, but I did meet Scott Watanabe at Comic-Con! (He was so great and friendly! I was a big dork!) And of course, Dan Haring, who is a talented writer as well as an artist, must be mentioned here too :)

If you haven't seen it yet, you totally should! It made me bawl.

  1. Surely we mustn't leave out the master, Glen Keane himself! I am hoping to receive this book from Sandy Claws, so hopefully there is that in a few weeks. I LOVE the art I've seen in it so far.

I also did some lantern fanart a couple days after seeing, but nowhere near as lovely as yours, and certainly not suitable for public display (not this draft anyway).

  3. Yeah, we saw it on Thanksgiving and Kev and I had to go back and see it again on the Saturday after. It's so awesome. Even the horse has a character arc! Anyway, I love your interpretation of my favorite part. *sniff*

  4. Great picture for a great movie. I've had to see it twice myself. It's not fair for a movie to make a grown man cry. I have to admit also that Mary Poppins just got competition, she used to be my favorite leading female but...Rapunzel is so cool and cute. I really wish I knew how you illustrate the pictures you post, they're beautiful Heather, keep it up.

  5. Aw thanks guys! And Drew, I'd be willing to wager your fanart is WAY better than mine--you are a master with the Disney princess!

  8. I HAD to see this moving after seeing this post of yours a couple of days ago. Great movie, classic Disney! That is an awesome drawing, captures the scene perfectly. I seriously need to force myself to learn to use my bamboo tablet after seeing your stuff, it's great. Thanks for the comments, I think you may be the only one that ever looks at my blog. :P

  10. I saw Tangled with my 2 year old and 4 year old last month. My 4 year old wandered over and saw this picture. He gasped in delight. I asked him what the picture was of, and he said, "Everything I want it to be!"

  13. Hi Heather - your art is awesome! Tangled is a fabulous movie aye - I got the 'The Art of..' book too and it's the best one for a film that I have come across. Keep up your amazing work, I'm pretty much just starting out and it's really inspiring to be able to see work like yours. : )

  14. I. Want. This. Book. I've been able to flip through a friend's copy a few times but am in serious danger of coveting.

I've only seen the movie...a few times but it's my new favorite. I want to meat Glen Keane, darn it!
