This is always nerve-wracking. I was kind of a loser in high school.
She was nice, though. She was like:
"I saw you on campus the other day."
And I was like:
"O rlly? We shoulda said hai!"
And she was like:
"You were talking to yourself."
And I was like:
And she said:
" A lot."
And I was like:
And she was like:
"Your hands were moving and stuff."
And I was like:
Isn't it nice to know that some things never change??

That makes me laugh! That is just the way I feel sometimes. Well, OK, most of the time! It's nice to know that others feel the same way too. It's very normal not to know quite what to say to awkward people!!

Weirdo in High School???? ...wait isn't everybody?? And why is it weird if you talk to yourself!!?? I mean, I do that all the time, and I'm like SUPER AWESOME!!! So that must mean you are SUPER AWESOME as well :)

Seriously. Your drawings are to a "T" perfect on expressions. I laughed so stinkin' hard. And you know what? I heard that people who talk to themselves are smarter than those who don't. So, take that high school reunion.

ReplyDeleteI will never forget our wonderful Saturday nights volunteering. We had so much fun making our own stories and joking about anything and everything. You are so amazing and talented and if that requires a little bit of talking to yourself then so be it!

ReplyDeleteI have 3 kinds of high school acquaintances cause I moved high schools the middle of my junior year. In fact the only real friend I maintained was my best friend and we never went to that same school. I started a 30 day art challenge today. The first one was "draw yourself" unfortunately I was wearing curlers at the time...

ReplyDeleteIf you weren't a loser outcast in school, it means you weren't spending the necessary time alone learning how to draw and paint. That's why all of us artists are a bunch of dorks, we spend way too much time alone, drawing, talking to ourselves -- a lot.

I didn't think you were a loser in high school - of course I talk to myself frequently. The voices don't like it when I ignore them and they just keep pestering me until I respond. Seriously, though, talking to myself helps me organize my thoughts and helps reduce anxiety when I'm stressed.

Whenever someone catches me talking to myself, I simply explain that it's the only way I can have an intelligent conversation.
