Presenting:

Thing:
There was this guy dressed as the grim reaper
dancing on the sidewalk with a scythe and a flag.

Here's a closeup.

Sitting by him was a dude playing the ukulele.
There wasn't an open case in front of him and
it's not tax season anymore, so they were probably protesters.
I don't know what they were protesting, but I totally want in.

THING:

I was driving down the freeway last weekend and there was a cop
in the far right lane, going really slow with his lights flashing.

When I passed, I saw why...

d'aaaaaaaw!!!

It was so adorable I flipped a U for a better look.

Kidding.
But I was hiccupping rainbows the rest of the day.

THING:

It was a gorgeous springy morning, and I was feeling pretty darn good
and was in a singy mood, which I get in sometimes,
and I was singing the best song from the
best movie pretty much ever.

BECAUSE IT NEVER GETS OLD

  2. The woman was probably just disappointed that you were singing all three parts. I bet she wanted to play Cornelius.

  4. This is why you have that 'Caution Driver Singing' license plate frame on your car. You're good.

  5. Once again, you made me laugh out loud at work. I have got to stop reading this at work. My boss is getting suspicious.

  6. I bet that's what the reaper/ukulele combo were singing too.

  7. I loved this post very much and literally LOLed. And yes, I sang aloud with the song as I read about your experience.

(But I do have to say, and I'm sorry about it, that the words are "...and I'll never let you fall.")

  9. That was awesome. :) I've received that look from neighbors many times. One even told me, "You know we can hear you, right?"

    Ahhh, good times.

  10. I love that song and sing it all the time, but it just occurred to me, perhaps my singing that song out loud in public is why all our neighbors are putting their houses up for sale! I guess I need to show them the movie so that they can sing it too!

  11. Um, no one has mentioned the geese on the freeway. I think I probably would have slipped into some kind of cuteness-overload coma if i saw that.

And, wow, Thumbelina. I'd forgotten about that show until now. I remember watching it while babysitting forever ago (like 15 years ago - yikes) and the parents came home before it was over. I thought about renting the video (yes, video) to finish it, but didn't because I knew all my brothers would make fun of me. Thank you for letting me see how it ended all these years later... :)

  12. @ Everyone - I KNOW RIGHT! Thumbelina is gangstah. I should have had her sing along.

@Drew - Your knowledge of girly princess movies puts mine to shame :D Totally right.

  13. Love, love, love this post so much I can't express it. Also, what is up with those funky pieces of hair on the sides of Thumbelina's head? I've always wanted to know why that was a trend in animated movies for a while.

  14. Hee hee, I know a lot about this not necessarily because it's a princess movie, but because it's an animated movie and yes, a musical. I have listened to that CD more times than I care to outline in this forum, but it's a lot (and counting, though it's been a *little* while). I'm sure your general and supreme girly princess movie knowledge far outweighs mine, of course! (For example, I have never seen a Barbie movie, animated and/or musical though they may be, ha ha.)

Oh Don Bluth and your weird puppy dog ear hair.

  15. I literally laughed out loud... you have such a knack for the "hmmmm, weird, OHMYGOODNESS THAT IS AWESOME, I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING!"

And my little brother came in and started howling with laughter when I showed him, too.

Thanks for making my day. I so totally could see myself in the "singing crazily in public" situation!

  16. Omg, I have just found your blog and I was really hiccuping rainbows while reading your comics! Things we see from our cars! I really laughed at the cops part! Funny thing to see those geese walk by haha xD
And the part when you were singing and realised that someone hear you... really funny! A few days ago I was sitting peacefully outside while a wild car appeared and the woman who was driving it was singing a song really loud! She was so funny!

  17. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has this song/scene memorized and sing it constantly. Though usually I'm frolicking/dancing while singing, which is probably why no one drives near me.

  18. Hahaha! Yes! My cousin and I spent an entire summer watching that movie. We were really terrified of the frogs though. :(

  19. You sing aloud in public songs from musicals acting out each character's part too? I'm not alone!
